Alan John Frew is a Scottish singer-songwriter and live performer based in Ayrshire, known for his warm, expressive vocals and understated acoustic style.
Influenced by John Martyn, J.J. Cale, and João Gilberto, his music blends grassroots indie folk with subtle Latin influences, with a focus on feel, tone, and melody, rooted in intimate, expressive performance.
Alan has performed extensively across the UK and Europe, building a reputation as a versatile and engaging live act. Career highlights include performing at Tartan Week in New York, appearing at Celtic Connections at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall with Gerry Rafferty’s family, and supporting artists such as Paolo Nutini, Sharon Shannon, and Dougie MacLean.
His debut album Go Easy was well received by press and radio, gaining strong support and airplay, followed by Songs From The Sea, further showcasing his songwriting and distinctive vocal style.
Upcoming performances include appearances in Nice and Cannes during the Cannes Film Festival at Ma Nolan’s, a tour of Germany with Amy Belle, and a ticketed full-band show at the Harbour Arts Centre in Irvine on August 7th 2026
